Sarah Briggs

Festival Orchestra ‘19, ‘22, ‘23, ‘24

Violinist Sarah Briggs performs with warmth, clarity, and perspectives gained from a richly varied career both local and international in scope. In April 2023, Sarah played with a jazz combo at the Hampden County Jail in Ludlow, MA. Other recent appearances include the Springfield, Berkshire and Rhode Island symphonies and the New England Repertory orchestra. This summer marks Sarah’s second appearance with Tundi. She is an opera lover, as her father sang professionally; Sarah has played with the Central City, Colorado, Opera Carolina, Utah, and Finger Lakes opera companies. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY and the University of Texas at Austin, and a former fellow at the Tanglewood Music Institute, Sarah collaborated for several years as a section violinist with the Charlotte, Colorado, and Utah symphonies, toured Japan with  the Chicago Sinfonietta, and played several concerts with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. After further stints in Alaska and Europe, Sarah settled happily in western Massachusetts, where she teaches violin at Amherst College.
