Wagner in Vermont returns in 2026, bookended by a new production of Tristan und Isolde, the opera with which it all started. Each show will have its own unique interpretation, with a ‘darker’ version on August 14th in the evening, and a ‘lighter’ version on August 19th as a matinee.
Also joining our main stage productions are Der Fliegende Holländer on August 16th, closely followed by act two of Parsifal on August 17th.
The rest of the week will be filled with festival events, including lectures and talks, staged scenes showcases by our cover cast, a Liederabend, and a new fully-staged interpretation of Unshielded: The story of Wotan and Brünnhilde adapted from Der Ring des Nibelungen.
Everything takes place, at our home venue, the Latchis Theatre, in Brattleboro VT. Festival passes go on sale December 15 and tickets for individual operas and festival events will be available in Spring 2026.

Auditions for singers
Audition notices will be published mid-November.
All our auditions are by submitted recordings, these need not be professionally produced, but should be of good enough quality to show us your voice and stage presence. It is not mandatory to submit arias from the operas listed, or arias by Wagner, anything that you think shows you the best for the roles you are interested in will be accepted. There are no live auditions.
There will also be a questionnaire to complete to help us get to know you and your goals, and how you might fit with the environment of the company, how our mission could help support your goals moving forward. We are keen to hear from people who may not even be ready to take on a position this year, and are looking ahead up to five years for our planning.
Roles and covers are paid, and housing is provided in dormitory-style or hosted housing. Depending on the role, you may need to be available, and present in Brattleboro VT, from the final week of July until the end of the festival on August 19th.
Full disclosure: although we produce big things, and have big dreams, we are a small low-budget artist-run company and our artists come together in mostly for the love of what we do, and the way we do it. We do pay everyone something but most of us lose money to be here.
Please do not send audition enquiries at this time, as we are moving to a new system and they will not be counted.
