Charles Daniel

Wotan Cover (Die Walküre), Donner Cover (RING ‘25)

Charles Daniel, baritone, recently completed his Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Alabama, where he studied with Paul Houghtaling. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, he was most recently an Apprentice Artist with Sarasota Opera for their 2025 winter season.

He has performed Marcello in La Bohème with the Janiec Opera Company at Brevard, Marullo and cover for the title role in Rigoletto with Druid City Opera, Frank in Die Fledermaus with Opera Huntsville, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, the title role in Don Giovanni, Marco in Gianni Schicchi, and Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors with UA Opera Theatre. Additional regional credits include Cascada in The Merry Widow with Birmingham Music Club.

Upcoming performances include covering Wotan in Die Walküre, covering Donner in Das Rheingold, and singing in the chorus of Götterdämmerung with TUNDI Productions.

Mr. Daniel holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he performed a diverse repertoire. He continued his studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, where notable roles included Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Peter in Hansel and Gretel, and Mr. Webster in the world premiere of The Master by Alberto Caruso.

A finalist in Mobile Opera’s Madame Rose Competition, he has also been a prizewinner in multiple levels of Alabama NATS competitions and has received scholarships and performance awards from the Birmingham Music Club, University of Alabama, UAB, and Samford University’s “Best of Birmingham” program.
