Violist Sophia Moreira is a recent graduate of the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, where she received a dual degree in Viola Performance and Political Science. She was mentored by acclaimed violist and pedagogue George Taylor. A New York native and currently based in New York City, Sophia’s 2022-2023 season includes engagements with Little Opera Theatre of New York, Amore Opera Orchestra, North Shore Symphony Orchestra, and the Classical Music Institute. Engagements this season and seasons past at the Eastman School of Music have included Principal Violist of the Eastman Philharmonia and Principal Violist of the Eastman Opera Theatre Orchestra. She has had the privilege of performing on many iconic stages throughout the United States, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kodak Hall, Koussevitzky Music Shed, and the Saratoga Springs Performing Arts Center. Sophia has played in chamber, orchestral, musical theatre, and operatic concerts in and around New York State as a freelance musician. She also maintains a private studio.
